A floral setting for commemorative photographs will appear in the new building. From 18:30 to 20:30, jazz performed by the Big Band St. Petersburg orchestra will sound beside the cutaway steam locomotive. On this day, a new route will begin: from 17:00 to 22:00, visitors can walk through the museum, leaving one imprint after another on a postcard until an image of a museum exhibit emerges from the fragments.
From 17:00 to 20:30, general tours will depart every half hour. Visitors will see the most striking exhibits and learn interesting facts about the history of Russian railways. Tour price: 350 rubles for adults, 250 rubles for discounted tickets; a museum admission ticket must be purchased separately.
Tickets are already available on the museum website.
At 20:00, Pavel Dunaev will lead an author’s tour of the “Train No. 1” exhibition project. This event is for visitors with a particular interest in the subject who are ready to discuss the history of the country’s oldest named train, the Red Arrow express. The tour will address Soviet everyday life in the 1930s, newly revealed secrets about the Red Arrow’s operation during the Great Patriotic War, how the concept of the “sleeping car” changed in the USSR, and the role of East German carriage manufacturing in the life of the ordinary Soviet passenger. Ticket: 350 rubles plus a museum admission ticket. Advance registration by phone only: +7 (812) 457-23-16. Age restriction: 18+.
