Final of Young Inventors’ Competition Held at the Museum of Russian Railways

On the eve of Children’s Day, the Museum of Russian Railways hosted the final of the young inventors’ competition “Open Steam Locomotive Races: Revival Two Centuries Later,” organized by the Academy of Digital Technologies.

On the eve of Children’s Day, the Museum of Russian Railways hosted the final of the young inventors’ competition “Open Steam Locomotive Races: Revival Two Centuries Later,” organized by the Academy of Digital Technologies.

Over six months, participants aged 12 to 20 developed moving steam-locomotive models without using ready-made solutions. Four original projects were created with the help of 3D printing. In the final, an expert jury assessed the steam-locomotive projects according to various criteria. A key part of the tests was a speed race along rails specially laid through the museum.

The competition featured two projects modeled on the experimental Soviet 2-3-2V high-speed steam locomotive, a project based on the Cherepanovs’ steam locomotive, and an imaginative locomotive.

The competition was organized by the Academy of Digital Technologies, a modern educational platform that enables schoolchildren to acquire relevant skills in IT, robotics, digital manufacturing technologies, media communications, and economics. The final was held at the Museum of Russian Railways, Russia’s largest railway museum, whose exhibitions tell the story of the past, present, and future of the country’s railways.
