The Russian Railway Museum and the Academy of Technical Creativity and Digital Technologies invite young people aged 10–20 to take part in the 2nd “Open Locomotive Competitions: Revival Two Centuries Later” contest.

Participants will create their own locomotive models using modern prototyping and 3D-printing technologies. The competition is intended to bring together the traditions of engineering design and digital innovation.

To mark the 175th anniversary of the St. Petersburg–Moscow Railway, which will be celebrated in 2026, the competition’s theme has been expanded. Participants may now create models not only of steam locomotives but of any other locomotives as well.

Registration for the competition is open. Detailed information, technical requirements, and the regulations are available on the competition website .

“Our goal is to revive the traditions of engineering creativity and the spirit of research. On the way to the final, participants will learn about outstanding achievements of the past, and the result of our shared work will be an opportunity to view the prospects of the future through the eyes of children,” said Vladimir Odintsov, Director of the Russian Railway Museum.

“Contestants have a unique opportunity to work with modern technologies such as 3D modeling and prototyping, which helps develop critical thinking and teamwork. Taking part in the competition will help the children find their calling and contribute to the future of technology and engineering,” said Valeria Zotova, Director of the Academy of Technical Creativity and Digital Technologies.
