On International Women’s Day, March 8, 2026, guests at the Russian Railway Museum can enjoy colorful fashion shows, workshops for adults and children, live music, and a floral photo zone. Admission will be free for all women on this day.
At 12:00, a fashion show of collections by St. Petersburg designers will take place beside the cutaway steam locomotive.
The “Cher~Neva” collection, “St. Petersburg Seasons,” is a dialogue between past and present expressed through fabrics, lines, and details. The collection was inspired by the architecture, culture, and distinctive rhythm of the city on the Neva. Author and designer: Elena Cherneva, a finalist in the presidential platform’s “Russia—Land of Opportunity” award.
Young models from the Defile studio at the Krasnogvardeyets Youth Center will present a collection of scarves called “Russian Tradition,” each a symbol of living folk culture.
At 14:00, the “Three Centuries of Fashion” gala show will take place at the “Arrows of Time” installation. The audience will travel into the past and follow the evolution of fashion over almost 300 years, from the 1700s to the mid-20th century. The show will begin with lavish court costumes from the Baroque era and end with stylish looks from the 1960s. The event was prepared by the Retrospective vintage-style club together with the Fashion Embassy interclub association.
Free themed tours about the role of women in the railway industry will take place at 11:00, 13:00, and 15:00. From 11:00 to 17:00, a children’s workshop space will be open for making locomotive postcards. Adults are also invited to get creative: from 12:00 to 16:00, they can make a stylish art object—a flower from wire. From 15:00 to 16:00, live jazz performed by the Big Band St. Petersburg will sound beside the cutaway steam locomotive.
A floral photo zone will be open by the turntable all day, and a floral video mapping will “bloom” on the steam locomotive on the turntable.
All the activities listed above are free on this day. All women can visit the museum with free admission tickets, which must be obtained at the museum ticket offices. Registration for the themed tour is available by phone: +7 (812) 457-23-16.
“The first railway in Russia, the Tsarskoye Selo Railway, was connected with high society and fashion—the Pavlovsk railway station, with its concerts, was a magnet for the public. Later, this revolutionary mode of transport influenced the history of clothing, which we will trace through fashion shows in the exhibition. We will talk about women’s professions on the railways during author’s tours. A gift for all women on this day is free admission to the museum. We look forward to welcoming everyone to this celebration of beauty, music, and history,” said Vladimir Odintsov, Director of the Russian Railway Museum.
