During the Great Patriotic War, Finland Station became crucially important to Leningrad. It was the only functioning railway hub in the besieged city. On February 7, 1943, just 19 days after the blockade was broken, the first train from the mainland arrived at Finland Station.

The Russian Railway Museum’s exhibition will tell the story of the railway workers’ heroic deeds and recreate moments from that era: visitors will see original documents, photographs, and personal belongings of railway workers and military personnel.

Admission to the exhibition is free during the station’s opening hours.

“The first train from the mainland became a symbol of hope and the unwavering spirit of the besieged city’s residents. Today’s generation honors the heroes of those years and remembers the price of freedom,” said Vladimir Odintsov, Director of the Russian Railway Museum.
