The exhibition was prepared by staff of the Museum of Russian Railways together with colleagues from the Finnish Railway Museum in Hyvinkää, with the participation of JSC Russian Railways and VR Group Ltd, the Finnish railway company.
This international Russian-Finnish exhibition project will tell visitors what decisions important to the development of the country’s transport infrastructure were made by members of the Romanov dynasty. It was during the reign of the imperial family that the first railway in the empire, the Trans-Siberian Railway, and the Murmansk Railway were built, and construction of many other railways throughout Russia began. Alongside materials dedicated to the main stages in the development of railways, the exhibition includes fascinating facts from the lives of members of the imperial family, including during their travels through Finland.
Notably, an identical exhibition opened at the railway station in Helsinki on the same day.
The exhibition will run through December 18, 2017.
