<space=1em><b>Dacha Boom</b>

<space=1em>The growing popularity of country houses, which also affected the privileged classes of society, required the creation of carriages with increased comfort, intended for suburban traffic.

<space=1em>In <nobr>1912</nobr> such carriages were developed, classified as <nobr>Class II</nobr>. They were somewhat more spacious than the <nobr>Class III</nobr> suburban carriages built at the same time, had semi-soft sofas and one toilet for <nobr>39 passengers</nobr>, and not <nobr>for 69</nobr>.

<space=1em><b>Movie theaters</b>

<space=1em>These cars were built at the factories of the Joint-Stock Company of the Russian-Baltic Carriage Works in Riga and Tver until <nobr>1918</nobr> During the Civil War, some cars were converted into movie theater cars, for which the partitions of the middle vestibule were dismantled.

<space=1em><b>Museum exhibit</b>

<space=1em>The car was delivered to the museum from the track machine station <nobr>No. 86</nobr> (Mga) of the October Railway. Restored <nobr>OOO "ARS-M"</nobr> in two stages: in <nobr>2011-2012</nobr> the body was reconstructed, in <nobr>2017</nobr> the interior was reconstructed.

Хронология:  <space=1em>1912 was a turning point for Russian carriage building — a transition from the mass production of three-axle carriages to four-axle bogie carriages took place. This had its own prerequisites: the track superstructure was strengthened, the number of factories where passenger carriages were built increased, and passenger transportation increased. Finally, standards were adopted regarding the sizes of passenger compartments and toilets. Thus, the number of seats by the width of the carriage was adopted as follows: for class 1 carriages — 2 passengers, for class 2 carriages — 3 passengers, and for class 3 carriages — 4 passengers. The carriages began to have a compartment for the conductor, and in class 1 and 2 carriages — closed vestibules were made and the number of berths was provided equal to the number of people sitting during the daytime. Individual water or steam heating was also introduced — from a steam locomotive or a special carriage with a steam boiler, electric lighting, and pneumatic brakes were installed. <space=1em>At the beginning of the 20th century, the popularity of dachas among the residents of St. Petersburg and Moscow increased rapidly. This required new comfortable and spacious suburban carriages. The task was taken up by the Russo-Baltic Plant in Riga, which mainly specialized in the construction of passenger carriages. In 1912, they developed the longest 22-meter carriage at that time, and also equipped it with a third vestibule to speed up boarding and disembarking for passengers. Dachas were mainly built by the aristocracy on their lands and rented out, and the "common people" could not afford it. Therefore, it is not surprising that the new suburban carriage was for second-class passengers. The carriage was built by order of the state-owned Northern Railways. The name of the road was "Northern", not "Severnaya", just as it was "Yuzhnye", not "Yuzhnaya", and so on. This type of carriage was built from 1912 to 1915, and from 1916 onwards, the construction of passenger carriages was practically stopped. At best, factories gradually completed the carriages of the pre-war order, and in 1918, the production of passenger carriages was completely stopped. <space=1em>The carriage was delivered to the museum from track machine station No. 86 (Mga) of the October Railway in 1992. The carriage was restored during the work carried out by ARS-M LLC in 2013–2014 and 2017.
