<space=1em><b>Stolypin carriage</b>
<space=1em>In <nobr>1908</nobr> a new type of carriage <nobr>class IV</nobr> was developed for the mass transportation of settlers and military personnel, which later received the unofficial name "Stolypin". Since <nobr>1909</nobr> large-scale production began at a number of factories.
<space=1em>The body of these carriages was wooden with slatted sheathing, the windows and gratings of the transition <nobr>platforms —</nobr> "according to the type of Finnish Railways", for <nobr>40 passengers —</nobr> one toilet without a toilet and a laundry compartment.
<space=1em><b>Museum exhibit</b>
<space=1em>The carriage was built at the South Russian Machine-Building Society plant in Kyiv. By the end of the <nobr>1950s</nobr> it was in the inventory of the Lviv Railway under <nobr>No. 2628</nobr>, presumably before that time it was converted into a suburban carriage.
<space=1em>By <nobr>October 31</nobr> <nobr>1961</nobr> it was converted by the Lviv Steam Locomotive and Carriage Repair Plant into a residential carriage and <nobr>March 8</nobr> <nobr>1962</nobr> it was transferred to the Experimental Track Machine Station <nobr>No. 1</nobr> (Reshetnikovo) of the October Railway.
<space=1em>In <nobr>1987</nobr> it underwent repairs on the October Railway and was included in the train that participated in the celebration of the <nobr>150th anniversary</nobr> of the USSR railways. It was used in <nobr>1989</nobr> for an exhibition at <nobr>Shcherbinka station</nobr>.
<space=1em>The car was delivered to the museum from the passenger car storage depot at <nobr>Manushkino station</nobr> in the mid-1990s.</nobr> It was restored during repairs carried out by <nobr>OOO "ARS-M"</nobr> in <nobr>2013–2014</nobr> and <nobr>2017.</nobr>

Хронология:
<space=1em>The resettlement movement arose at the end of the 19th century and began to develop spontaneously: from 1894 to 1909, over 4 million settlers passed through Chelyabinsk. The Siberian Railway Committee organized special state aid for the settlers. This included material, medical, informational and other support for the settlers during their move and economic arrangement. Transportation was carried out at preferential rates in special trains. <space=1em>A normal freight car had internal equipment for installing bunks and a heating stove to transport soldiers (40 people). Such a car did not have insulated walls, so to transport people, it was additionally lined with wood on the outside with a felt or cork lining between the walls. That is, a warm car, or "teplushka", was obtained. The car could accommodate up to 26 people. But this was a temporary solution. <space=1em>In order to transport settlers, the Administration of State Railways began developing new types of passenger cars in the late 1890s. These cars had a dual purpose: they could also be used to transport troops. <space=1em>The first type of car for settlers was a passenger car with a 5,000 mm wheelbase and a 10,000 mm frame length, which could accommodate 40 passengers. The cars were cramped and the corridors were narrow. It was inconvenient to move luggage in them, and children from settler families could not run and play. The lack of space determined the further development of this type of car. <space=1em>In 1901, to ensure a smoother ride, the car's wheelbase was increased to 5,500 mm and the vestibules were widened. The doors in the side walls were removed because it was difficult to make the doors fit tightly with the wooden structure of the carriage body, and because of this there was a constant draft in the carriages. The side seats in the carriage interior were removed and the berth for lying down was extended to 2,200 mm, while the corridor was also widened to 800 mm. This type of carriage was approved for construction in 1902 by the Railway Administration. It was built by all carriage-building plants until 1908. <space=1em>But the number of settlers grew, and this type of carriage began to be improved. The new type was developed by M. N. Groten, an engineer at the Russo-Baltic Plant, on the instructions of the Railway Administration. <space=1em>The Railway Administration approved this type of carriage for construction at the end of 1908. Thirteen carriage-building plants were immediately given an order to build more than 1,000 carriages of this type. During the First World War, they were actively used in military hospital trains to transport military personnel. <space=1em>Later, these cars were transferred to suburban service, and they lived out their days as residential and service cars at PMS (track machine stations). <space=1em>The car presented in the museum was built by the South Russian Plant in Kyiv.
