<space=1em>«Normal» train
<space=1em>The organization of non-transhipment service led to the development of a «normal», that is, standardized in its dimensions and parts, rolling stock. This made it possible to quickly provide the necessary repairs outside the owner-road due to the availability of standardized spare parts. After the repairs were completed, the failed parts were sent to the owner-road, which paid for the repairs themselves, the cost of spare parts and their return. Once every three years, the cars in non-transhipment service had to be returned to the owner-road for inspection and repair.
<space=1em>New platform
<space=1em>At the end of 1929 the Kolomensky Plant developed a project for a two-axle platform with an all-metal frame and a load capacity of 20 tons. The overall dimensions are the same as those of a "normal" platform. The frame allowed for the installation of an automatic coupling, the height of the sides was increased from 229 to 625 mm. The sides are made of three sections, unlike a normal platform, which has two. The increased side height had a positive effect on the transportation of bulk cargo (crushed stone, sand).
<space=1em>The platform floor is wooden, made of 50 mm thick boards. For the transportation of wood materials, six holes were made in the floor on the inner side of the sides on each side, into which forest poles could be installed. The ends of the poles rested on special earrings riveted to the side of the frame. The side of the frame was a channel with a height of 300 mm.
<space=1em>Until 1933 the platform frames were riveted, and then welded. Some of the cars initially had a platform with a booth for the brakeman when manually braking. Later, the booths were not installed, leaving only a platform with a fence. The platform was arranged by shortening the length of the platform floor by 600 mm. The cars were equipped with Westinghouse pneumatic brakes, later — Kazantsev and Matrosov.
<space=1em>Mass production
<space=1em>Cars according to this design were built by almost all plants and workshops until 1947 Their construction did not stop even during the Great Patriotic War. They were even built in Germany under reparations. The approximate number of cars of this type built exceeds 200,000 units.

<space=1em>Initially, freight and passengers could only move within a single railway.
