Хронология:
<space=1em>Since there could be few second-class passengers on the railways, so as not to build a separate carriage for their transportation, it was allowed to build carriages of mixed classes. This is how mixed carriages of classes I and II, classes II and III, as well as carriages of class III, combined with a post office, appeared. The transportation of mail was obligatory for each railway, just as the maintenance of gendarmes to maintain order. <space=1em>The Trans-Baikal Railway began in Irkutsk and ended in Sretensk, had a branch from the Kitaisky razyaz station to the border station of Manchuria. It was opened for traffic on July 1, 1900. Initially, before the completion of the Circum-Baikal Railway in 1905, a ferry of the same name served to transport carriages across Lake Baikal. <space=1em>According to the price list of passenger cars of all types, 71 units were ordered for the road, 42 units of class IV cars. A large batch of 87 cars was ordered from the Revel Dvigatel Plant (Tallinn). Among them were 13 cars for the main line and 7 class III cars for the branch to the Chinese border. The exact number of mixed cars built is unknown and is unlikely to have exceeded ten units. <space=1em>The history of cars with a frame length of 15,160 mm goes back to the mixed cars of classes II–III built in Esslingen (Germany) in 1878 for the Ural Mining Railway. This type of carriage proved successful, and in 1885, 20 carriages of class III were built by the Kolomna Machine-Building Plant by order of the Provisional Administration of the State Railways for the Yekaterinburg-Tyumen Railway. <space=1em>Cars of this design were built by many plants until 1898, and they were mainly supplied to the Administration of the State Railways. <space=1em>The carriage in the museum most likely originally belonged to the Ussuri Railway. It has been preserved thanks to its metal frame. <space=1em>Cars of this type were in operation until the mid-1930s, after which they began to be dismantled or transferred to newly formed machine and track stations for housing and service purposes. Therefore, the interior of the carriage in the museum has not been preserved.
