<space=1em>Technical description

<space=1em>In 1928 the carriage-technical office of the Krasny Putilovets plant developed a project for a rigid compartment passenger carriage 20.2 m long, based on the 20 m long model of the state-owned railways.

<space=1em>At the same time, the length of the body without vestibules increased by 300 mm, the vestibules were slightly narrowed from 940 to 890 mm, and the frame was lengthened by 200 mm. These changes did not affect the width of the compartment, it remained 1,750 mm wide. The design of the carriage itself was typical for that time. The cars had a completely metal riveted frame (later welded), to prevent its deflection and increase strength, a truss was installed under the side channels. Unlike the car with a length of 20 m, the frame had two central ridge beams, which allowed the installation of an automatic coupling.

<space=1em>Brake .equipment —. manual (parking) and pneumatic Westinghouse systems. The body is classic wooden, covered with sheet iron. Heating of the car from an individual water boiler. The car had two toilets, a compartment for the conductor, a boiler room. To accommodate passengers in the car there were eight four-berth compartments, for a total of 32 passengers.

<space=1em>The front walls of the carriage housed a sliding door and a wide transition platform with vestibules for placing a transition canvas accordion. Natural ventilation was provided by deflectors designed by engineer Korshunov. This type of deflectors became very widespread and was subsequently installed on almost all passenger carriages built before the Great Patriotic War. Lighting was provided by electric ceiling lamps.

<space=1em>A newly developed triple-suspension bogie of the so-called resort type was initially rolled under the carriages. During the construction of the carriages, it was abandoned and, starting in 1936, a simplified balance-free bogie designed by the I.E. Egorov Plant was installed. Later, more advanced bogies of the TsVTK and reinforced TsVTK types were installed under the carriages.

<space=1em>Museum specimen

<space=1em>The carriage located in the museum was built by the Kalinin Carriage Works in 1935–1936. It was converted into a special carriage with the installation of communication equipment. The equipment was later dismantled. The roof of the carriage is equipped with Wendler deflectors (cast iron), which were installed to replace Korshunov deflectors during factory repairs in the post-war period. The carriage is mounted on balancer-less bogies.

<space=1em>It was received by the museum in 2005 from the Tikhvin station of the October Railway.

Хронология: <space=1em>The decision to build new passenger cars was made in the program for the restoration and renewal of the rolling stock in 1925. In August 1925, a two-axle suburban passenger car was approved for construction. In April 1926, a project for the construction of a long-distance car was approved. Both cars were 14 meters long and their design was based on a pre-revolutionary class III car of the same length. <space=1em>The new cars had a different system for suspending the wheelsets, which provided a smoother ride for the cars. These cars were built in 1926-1929 at the Mytishchi, Kolomensky, and Krasny Putilovets plants. These were small-capacity cars. They only partially solved the problem of increased passenger traffic. <space=1em>Therefore, in 1928, the wagon-technical office of the Krasny Putilovets plant developed a project for a four-axle rigid compartment passenger car 20.2 meters long. It was based on a 20-meter long car of the State Railways. <space=1em>On the basis of this rigid compartment car, as it was then called "resort type", they built: - a rigid long-distance car (reserved seat) with 48 sleeping places and 64 seats; - a rigid suburban car with 94 seats; - a restaurant car with 48 seats (built by the Kalinin plant). <space=1em>All these types had an identical body in terms of the number and location of windows. Externally, they differed in the location of the roof deflectors. <space=1em>A soft, 20.2-meter-long compartment car with 7 compartments and 28 passengers was built. <space=1em>Cars of this type were built from 1928 to 1941 at the Kalinin Carriage Works and the I. E. Yegorov Carriage Works (formerly the <space=1em>St. Petersburg Partnership Carriage Works). Despite the fact that the cars were built by two plants, they are now commonly called "Yegorovtsy". <space=1em>The car in the museum was built at the Kalinin Carriage Works in 1935–1936. It was converted into a special car with the installation of communication equipment. The equipment was later dismantled. Wendler deflectors (cast iron) are installed on the roof of the car.
