On May 7, 2026, from 10:00 to 18:00, ahead of Victory Day, the Oktyabrskaya Railway and the Russian Railway Museum will hold a large-scale historical and patriotic event. Guests can look forward to reenactors and a field kitchen, themed tours and workshops for children, live music and souvenir photographs, as well as “living” steam locomotives.
From 13:00 to 15:30, visitors will be able to see an historically accurate replica of the BP-43 armored train and a retro train with military equipment on the tracks of St. Petersburg’s Baltiysky Railway Station. Access to the armored train and retro train will be available with commuter train tickets (including an accompanying-person pass) and with Russian Railway Museum tickets valid on the date of the event.
Throughout the day, the Russian Railway Museum will host a reenactor area where visitors can learn about the everyday life of Soviet soldiers, see their equipment, and examine wartime propaganda materials and personal letters. The role of railways in the Victory will be discussed during general and author’s tours: “Roads of Victory” by Elena Subbotina and “Silent Witnesses of a Loud History” by Elena Kalashnikova, at 13:00, 14:00, and 15:00 on May 7.
Young visitors can make postcards at a workshop from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 15:30 to 17:30, while everyone is welcome to use a selfie mirror with free photo printing. A field kitchen will operate in the open-air exhibition from 12:00 to 17:00. To conclude the celebration, live music from the war years will be performed beside the cutaway steam locomotive from 15:30 to 16:30. Steam locomotives decorated with fir branches and ribbons will create the atmosphere of the victorious spring of 1945.
The program at the Russian Railway Museum is included with admission tickets; all discounts apply.
