Partnerships

The Russian Railway Museum is participating in the large-scale multimedia exhibition “Letters from the Fiery Years: A Family Archive,” which will take place at the State Historical Museum from April 15 to May 15.

The exhibition is devoted to personal letters that connected the front and the home front during the Great Patriotic War and helped soldiers and their loved ones endure extremely difficult trials.

More than 1,000 letters from soldiers and commanders, their relatives and loved ones, selected from museums, archives, and private collections throughout the country, were chosen for the exhibition. The Russian Railway Museum provided two letters: a letter with drawings for “Elichka” from Guards Lieutenant and Hero of the Soviet Union A. V. Aleksandrov, and a tragic letter reporting the death of the wife of A. A. Samoylov, an engineer of the 48th Special Reserve Locomotive Column.

Graphic works and photographs connected with the postal service occupy a special place in the exhibition. Paintings, objects from the State Historical Museum’s collection, and family relics of famous military commanders complement the display. One section of the exhibition is devoted to contemporary events on the fronts of the Special Military Operation.

The project is implemented with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives. The exhibition is organized by the Heirs of the Victors Foundation.

The exhibition is open from April 15, 2026, through May 15, 2026.

Address: Exhibition Complex of the State Historical Museum,
