<space=1em>Under the influence of the NEP
<space=1em>After the Civil War, the rolling stock of the People's Commissariat of Railways and the rolling stock factories were in a deplorable state. However, freight traffic increased significantly during the New Economic Policy.
<space=1em>New Car
<space=1em>Upon orders from the reviving rolling stock industry, a project for a two-axle covered car was created, taking into account the new technologies of the time and designed for the future. The wall pillars and roof arches were made of metal, and the frame design provided for the installation of automatic couplers.
<space=1em>Such cars were built from 1926 by the Krasnoye Sormovo, Tver Carriage Works, and Andre Marty in Nikolaev. In 1927 the design was modified, and such cars were built until 1931 Later, the factories finally switched to the production of heavy-duty cars.
<space=1em>The brake cars had a closed brake booth, which improved the working conditions of the conductor compared to the platforms of normal freight cars.
<space=1em>Museum exhibit
<space=1em>Car № 657 582 was transferred to the museum from the Priozersk station of the October Railway in 2009 Restored by the Tosno car repair depot of the October Railway in 2010

Хронология:
<space=1em>The NTV carriages had only a partially iron frame, and the body was all-wood, and this limited the service life of the carriages. Therefore, back during the First World War, a carriage body was developed, the sheathing and frame of which consisted of iron sections. For the first time, such carriages were built by order of the railways of the Grand Duchy of Finland. Although they had a track of 1,524 mm, they had a very specific rolling stock, which was not transferred to other railways. Putilov Plant also built carriages of a similar design according to its own design. They had a carrying capacity of 1,000 poods. <space=1em>Before the First World War, about 500,000 NTV carriages were in use on the Russian railway network. But some of the carriages were left in Poland and the Baltic States, and some were damaged during military operations, since the carriages were wooden and quickly burned. <space=1em>By 1915, there was a shortage of freight cars: Russian factories were inundated with military orders, and some had been evacuated altogether. Therefore, it was decided to order cars abroad. Since the deadlines were tight, the cars were ordered from several factories in America and Canada at once. The first order included four-axle covered cars, gondola cars and platforms, which were delivered disassembled by sea to Vladivostok, where temporary workshops were organized. Wooden parts for these cars were made on site. Then followed the second and third orders of cars. The last order included two-axle cars, similar to NTV cars. But the cars of the last order had a number of differences: reinforced doors, axle boxes, harness devices, a slightly increased height and floor area, two-sided braking of each wheel pair, the steel frame was not designed to use a through harness, and the harness was attached to the ends of the frame through a damping device. The body frame was made of Z-shaped sections and reinforced with gussets at critical joints. The cars were assembled until 1921. <space=1em>In 1925, a program for the development of new types of rolling stock was adopted, and it focused on the construction of heavy-duty four-axle cars similar to those delivered from America and Canada. The factories were not yet ready to build four-axle cars, so they decided to resume the construction of two-axle covered freight cars similar to the Canadian ones. The first experimental cars were built by the Sormovsky Plant in 1926–1927. The car's carrying capacity was 20 tons. With minor changes in the design, these cars were built until 1931. <space=1em>The car was transferred to the museum from the Priozersk station of the October Railway in 2009. It is one of the first carriages of this type, most likely produced at the Sormovsky Plant in 1926–1927. These carriages were subsequently built using album drawings from 1928–1929. In literature, they are often referred to as "Canadian type" carriages. <space=1em>The exhibit was restored by the Tosno carriage repair depot of the October Railway in 2010. <space=1em>The carriage contains an installation that allows you to immerse yourself in the daily work of railway workers in besieged Leningrad.
