<space=1em><b>Road Electrification</b>
<space=1em><nobr>В 1024 —</nobr> lead trailer car from the three-car DC electric section <nobr>СВ 024</nobr>. The СВ series trains were the first domestic electric sections (electric trains) to be produced in series.
<space=1em>Railway electrification work began in the USSR in the late <nobr>1920s —</nobr> early <nobr>1930s.</nobr> During <nobr>1927–1929</nobr> the <nobr>Moscow — Mytishchi</nobr> section of the Northern Railways was electrified, which served very large volumes of suburban traffic in the northeastern outskirts of Moscow. In this case, a direct current system with a nominal voltage in the contact network of <nobr>1,500 V</nobr> was used, which at that time was considered the most suitable for such conditions.
<space=1em>On the October Railway, the first electrified line was the <nobr>Leningrad-Baltic - Novy Peterhof</nobr> section in <nobr>1933</nobr>, later extended to Oranienbaum and through Krasnoye Selo to Gatchina. After the transition to electric traction, suburban traffic on these lines began to be served by electric trains built at the Mytishchi Carriage Works.
<space=1em><b>Electric Sections</b>
<space=1em>The electric section consisted of three four-axle cars operating in a constant <nobr>formation -</nobr> one intermediate motor car, located in the middle, and two trailer head cars at the ends. The intermediate motor car was equipped with two current collectors, four traction electric motors <nobr>DP-150</nobr> manufactured by the Moscow Dynamo plant with support-axle suspension and the main power equipment. The trailer head cars had control cabins in the front end of the body. One of the head cars in the section also had a luggage compartment and a toilet.
<space=1em><b>Import substitution</b>
<space=1em>The production of such electric sections was established at the Mytishchi plant since <nobr>1929</nobr> Initially, the design of electric cars used electrical equipment manufactured by the English company Vickers, purchased in the amount of <nobr>30 sets</nobr>. Subsequently, three more sections were equipped using spare parts. Since <nobr>1932</nobr> new electric sections began to be equipped with domestically produced electrical equipment, the production of which was established at the Dynamo plant.
<space=1em>The electric sections were designated as series CB (Vickers) and CD (Dynamo). The letter "C" denoted the type of Northern Railways.
In total, the Mytishchi plant produced <nobr>33 three-car</nobr> electric sections of the SV series (<nobr>No. 001–030</nobr>, 033, 034, 036) in <nobr>1929–1934</nobr> and <nobr>232 electric sections of the SD series (<nobr>No. 031</nobr>, 032, 035, <nobr>037–164</nobr>, <nobr>166–260</nobr>, <nobr>262–267</nobr>) in <nobr>1932–1941. Production continued until the outbreak of war and the evacuation of the plant in <nobr>1941.</nobr>
<space=1em><b>Notation System</b>
<space=1em>The entire three-car electric section was counted by the number of the motor car, while the trailer head cars had an additional one in the number (a car without a baggage compartment) or two (a car with a baggage compartment). Thus, the designation of cars in the electric section <nobr>СВ 024</nobr> looked like this. The head car without a baggage compartment was designated as <nobr>СВ 1024 —</nobr> this car is presented in the museum. The motor <nobr>car —</nobr> <nobr>СВ 024</nobr>. Leading carriage with baggage compartment —</nobr> <nobr>СВ 2024</nobr>.
<space=1em><b>Operation</b>
<space=1em>Most of the constructed electric sections of the CB and CD series were operated on electrified lines in the vicinity of the Moscow and Leningrad railway junctions. Some also worked on the Ordzhonikidzevskaya railway (on the <nobr>Mineralnye Vody - Kislovodsk</nobr> section electrified in <nobr>1936–1937</nobr>), the <nobr>im. V.V.Kuibysheva</nobr> (on the <nobr>Kuibyshev - Bezymyanka</nobr> section electrified in <nobr>1944</nobr>) <nobr>etc.</nobr>
<space=1em>With large volumes of suburban passenger traffic, it was common practice to connect and operate two or even three electric sections as part of one six- or nine-car electric train.
<space=1em><b>Modernization</b>
<space=1em>In the post-war period, experiments began on the operation of sections at two DC voltages <nobr>1,500</nobr> and <nobr>3,000 V</nobr>, and <nobr>later —</nobr> a planned transition from <nobr>1,500 V</nobr> to <nobr>3,000 V</nobr>, which soon became standard for the railways of the USSR. For this, the electric sections were modernized and then assigned the designation CMZ.
<space=1em>Most of the SV and SD electric sections ceased to be used on the USSR railways in the <nobr>1970s.</nobr>
<space=1em><b>Museum specimen</b>
<space=1em>The lead trailer car <nobr>SV 1024</nobr> from the electric section <nobr>SV 024</nobr>, built in <nobr>1932</nobr>, presented in the museum, was used in the Leningrad-Baltic depot before the war. In <nobr>1955</nobr> it was re-equipped for <nobr>3,000 V</nobr> and received the designation <nobr>CMZ 1024</nobr>. In the early <nobr>1960s</nobr> it was modernized with pneumatically operated entrance doors. After being removed from the inventory, the car was used as a warehouse for a long time.
<space=1em>The car was delivered to the museum from the St. Petersburg-Sortirovochny-Vitebsky electric depot in <nobr>1996</nobr>. During repairs carried out by <nobr>OOO "ARS-M"</nobr> in <nobr>2015</nobr>, it was brought back to the appearance of the first years of operation.

Хронология:
<space=1em>In 1927, work began on the electrification of the Moscow-Yaroslavskaya - Mytishchi section of the Northern Railway. In August 1929, the Moscow (Yaroslavsky Station) - Mytishchi section was opened for trial operation with a DC voltage of 1,500 volts. <space=1em>Trains began running on schedule on October 1. This section was serviced by three-car electric trains consisting of one motor and two trailer cars. Each of the trailer cars had a control cabin. <space=1em>Initially, motor cars were designated EM (electric motor) and numbered EM 401, 402, etc.; trailer cars with a luggage compartment - E 501, 502, etc., and trailer cars without a luggage compartment - E 601, 602, etc. In 1936, the series name was changed to CB: C — Northern Railway, B — electrical equipment from the English company Metropolitan Vickers. <space=1em>At first, three-car trains were operated independently or as paired six-car trains. They were coupled and uncoupled at terminal stations, taking into account passenger traffic. Then this practice was abandoned, and the trains began to operate in a six-car version. Since 1939, some trains began to operate as three three-car sections. <space=1em>In total, the Mytishchi plant built 33 three-car sections with sets of electrical equipment from the English company Vickers. The last three trains, numbers 033, 034 and 036, were equipped with electrical equipment supplied as spare parts. <space=1em>The production of their own electrical equipment was established at the Dynamo plant by 1933, and the first electric train of the CD series (Northern Railway, Dynamo) numbered 031 was released at the same time. When designing the electrical equipment, they used materials from General Electric, a company that produced electrical equipment for carriages in the USA in the 1920s. <space=1em>The CD series trains were produced by the Mytishchi plant before the war, 232 units were built. The carriages were painted cherry along the bottom of the body up to the window line, and beige (ivory) along the window line up to the roof. During the war, the trains were repainted green. <space=1em>After the war, the production of electric trains was moved to the Riga Carriage Works, which initially produced electric trains of the CR series (Northern Railway, Riga), and then the ER series (Electric Train, Riga). <space=1em>The lead trailer car of the former CB 1024 series from the CB 024 electric section, presented in the museum, was built in 1932. Before the war, it was used at the Leningrad-Baltic depot. In 1955, it was re-equipped to a voltage of 3,000 V and designated as CM>3 1024 - Northern Railway, Modernized, 3 kW. In the early 1960s, the car was retrofitted with pneumatically operated entrance doors. <space=1em>The car arrived at the museum from the St. Petersburg-Sortirovochny-Vitebsky electric depot in 1996.
