To order for the USSR

From 1974 to 1976 the Czechoslovakian Skoda plant mass-produced single-section six-axle DC electric locomotives ChS2T to order from the USSR.

The designation of the fundamentally new series of machines was decoded as "Czechoslovak production, type 2, equipped with a rheostatic brake". People nicknamed it the Iron, the Tower, the Brick and the Teremok for its unusual appearance.

Main line

The first batch of ChS2T received the factory designation 63E₁ (945–1024), the second — 63E₂ (1025–1062). The series was supplied only to the October Railway — the main line in the country.

At the end of 1972 the USSR received experimental models ChS2T No. 875 and 876 of type 63E₀. They had rheostatic braking, spotlights above the windshields and in the middle of the end wall under them. The 63E₀ was equipped with more powerful traction electric motors AL-4846dT. The machine's power was 4,620 kW.

Base locomotive

A total of 118 electric locomotives of the ChS2T series (945–1062) arrived on Soviet railways. They arrived in equal batches at the Moscow-Oktyabrskaya and Leningrad-Passazhirsky-Moskovsky depots and were assigned to them until 2001.

The ChS2T became the base locomotive for pulling express trains on the October Railway, hauling up to 22 cars. In addition, it maintained a seven-hour schedule between the capitals, but with no more than 16 cars in the train.

Millions of kilometers

The museum presents the electric locomotive ChS2T 945 1974 This series worked for many years in the Leningrad-Passazhirsky-Moskovsky, Moscow-Oktyabrskaya and Murmansk depots. ChS2T 945 is a veteran of the October Railway. Its mileage is more than 6 million km. ЧС2Т 945 — is an entire era of Soviet railways.

ЧС2Т 945 was the calling card of the October Railway, because it drove the legendary trains "Nevsky Express" and "Aurora", and it served "Red Arrow" for 30 years of its 90-year history.
